Shane B. Johnson is a full-time faculty member in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University (ASU), where he teaches Introduction to Geology to nearly 1,000 students a year and supervises the associated introductory geology labs. Dr. Johnson earned an M.S. in geosciences and an M.S. in geology from ASU. He also earned a B.S. in geology and geophysics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Dr. Johnson's research interests focus on the application of theoretical methods for understanding, predicting, and assessing the dynamics of complex multiphase systems. Dr. Johnson has received numerous awards for teaching excellence and for his research, including the Arizona Science Teachers Association Outstanding Research Award, the ASU School of Earth and Space Exploration Outstanding Research Award, and the Arizona State University Outstanding Teaching Award. His geoscience education research has been published in various journals and books, including The 7th International Conference on Field Methods in Geology, the Journal of Geoscience Education, and the Encyclopedia of Earth. He is a member of the Geological Society of Arizona, the American Geophysical Union, the American Academy of Geosciences, and the Geological Society of America. He is also a fellow of the Geological Society of London.
Lance L. Wagner earned an M.S. in geosciences and an M.S. in geology from Arizona State University. He is a full-time faculty member in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University. He teaches Introduction to Geology, Physical Geology, and Geomorphology to nearly 1,000 students a year. Dr. Wagner is an active research geologist who conducts field research, presents at professional meetings, and presents undergraduate and graduate research and teaching experiences as a National Association of Geoscience Teachers invitational speaker. His research interests focus on the development and implementation of innovative, student-centered learning and teaching strategies for geology and geoscience. He has received the ASU Outstanding Teaching Award and the National Science Foundation Teacher Enhancement Grant.
Marsha L. Kephart is a professor in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University (ASU). She earned her B.A. in geology from the University of Montana in Missoula. She received her Ph.D. in earth sciences from the University of California, Davis. Dr. Kephart’s research interests include paleoclimatology, river processes, and the natural hazards associated with active faults, volcanoes, and landslides. She is co-principal investigator for the Arizona Geological Survey and conducts research on the natural hazards associated with the geologic hazards of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum , Sierra-Cascade Natural History Museum and Aquarium , and Scottsdale Museum of Natural History .
