The lead actress seems the most developed, as she proves in 'Alex Cross' and 'Matched'. Her relationship with the guy is fragile. It's quite a bit more believable than the stereotypical Hollywood love story. The girl seems to get into the fight club more willingly than the guy, who has more of a dark side. The fight is engineered to get rid of him. The movie ends with a fight club, but the post-script is a public service announcement telling kids to stay away from fight clubs. Not so much making the movie better.
Could be worse. Much worse. But it's the same old same old. It might be going somewhere. The fight scene is surprisingly effective, but the action is still a mess. And the story gives a clue at the very end.
The action scenes of a kung-fu fight club are done by stuntman Marc Lieberman. The actors spend all their time hitting each other. A kung-fu film is meant to be more realistic, so the fisticuffs are done by stunt doubles. But that's part of the problem. The actors have to be made to look like they are brutalizing each other, but the punches and kicks are always done by stunt doubles. The director, David Craig, shows a pro's grasp of the action, but he doesn't know how to do the characters. His actors have no depth. They're cardboard cut-outs.
They have the look down pat. Some of the scenes are surprisingly good. The kid's story is amusing. The geeky Max is almost a supporting character. He's the audience surrogate. The final fight is a bit over-the-top but fun. It's pretty much a hardboiled crime movie, with some fight club subtext. I liked it, but it's just not that new.
Over the years, Zangief has become one of the most iconic characters in the Street Fighter franchise. He represents the pure fighting spirit of stoic Japanese warriors. Zangief (Andy T.) was raised to be an assassin and is the perfect choice for the role of villainous nemesis. His look is a perfect fusion of demonic and martial arts. In the film, he will be an unstoppable, unstoppable force.
This is a movie that is done better on paper than it is in the film. It's about a guy that lives in a world of violence, and is mad at the world. He meets a training teacher and they form a fight club where they can channel their rage. It's about a guy who's future is set for failure, so he decides to get some action. 827ec27edc
