A similar setup would be using a digital delay, and trigger a specific amount of milliseconds that will be traveling on top of the exact same sound. Sometimes this will make a sound louder, or more quiet at some point (since having the exact same waveform will increase the sound output, but having the inverted waveform will drop the sound). This is one of the main reasons why it is 'hard' to predict what the output of the comb filter is going to be like. Since it depends on the audio source, comb filter frequency and resonance.
Another free running filter setup would be using a Malstrom or Thor instead. In these setups the Malstrom or Thor are used solo for being an audio processor unit (a technique which I have often discussed in the past, so there is hopefully nothing new about how to create this setup). The main advantage between the setups of using the Malstrom and Thor vs the ecf 42 envelope controlled filter is that the first 2 devices open up the ability to use internal routing and modulation. For the malstrom it is probably the easiest way to set it up since it only requires a connection from audio out -> audio input. With Thor you'll need to tell what it needs to do with the Audio input signals (thats the only extra step). The big advantage that Thor has in this case is the amount of modulation you are able to apply to it. Just to sum up some ideas here:
Please note: This Kontakt library will work within the free Kontakt Player 2 or higher, however, you DO NOT need to have Kontakt to use this product - it works as a plugin with your existing setup - see system requirements below. The library requires over 4 GB of free hard drive space. 153554b96e
