An Introduction to Philosophy is organized into three parts. Part II focuses on ethics. Here, the author discusses topics such as deontology, consequentialism, and virtue theory. In addition, he explores the famous debate between Kant and Hegel.

Overall, this is an effective introduction for students with a basic background in philosophy. The book is a little dry and lacks a glossary or index. Payne is a good writer and provides interesting coverage of the major topics in philosophy. He also does well in providing a useful overview of the philosophy of science.
I found this to be a thoroughly recommended and reliable text for anyone interested in philosophy, and I think it is a good introduction for all students to get an understanding of the different branches of philosophy and how they connect to one another. I find it to be approachable, and I believe it will be a benefit to anyone who reads this text.
An Introduction to Philosophy is a very readable and quick introduction to the main branches of philosophy and the works of major philosophers. It is written in a nice clear style and at a beginner level. It is also a great introduction if you are studying English. The author has organised the text in such a way as to not assume previous knowledge of philosophy, and is very clear in its explanations. 827ec27edc
